General Information
Naxos, known from mythology, is the biggest and most fertile island in the Cyclades with evidence of habitation even since the prehistoric times while it is present in all the historical periods.
Mansion
Mansions are mainly city residences, which in many cases are quite similar to the popular houses regarding the structure and organization but are different in size and quality of construction.
Popular house
It is the most common type of residence which originally consists of one basic unit, a rectangular sheltered room, just one room, used for housing people and storing goods.
Towers
There are about 30 towers still preserved on the whole island. Most of them were built during the Venetian rule.
