Vivlos (Tripodes)

The village of windmills, which undoubtedly adorn the place located up to the hill, looks like a unique painting. The village is at a distance of 8km far from Chora and it has about 800 residents who mainly deal with agriculture and livestock farming. Tourism is also another important occupation since the beach of Plaka is really close.
The village is full of life and it has many cafιs and restaurants at the visitor΄s disposal. It is one of the main villages of the region of Livadi with some special monuments like the old Tower of Plaka, the church of the Virgin Mary Tripodiotissa, the chapel of Agios Matthaios (Saint Matthew) and the little church of Stavropigi.
Entering to the village you will meet the Virgin Mary Tripodiotissa, a double-aisled church that dates from 16th century with big bells and an amazing wood-carved iconostasis. Its celebration takes place on 23rd August along with a special feast.
 It is also worth visiting the little church of Stavropigi on 14th September that you will meet in the direction of Kastraki. It is located in a verdant area where only the landscape will compensate you. Walk on its picturesque narrow streets and discuss with its friendly local people so as to get to know better their way of life. Then get some rest drinking a glass of raki or tasting some traditional snacks in any of its testaurants.
